I'm Movin' On

about

“I wrote this song on a sunny afternoon a handful of years ago, sitting on my patio, reflecting on the state of my marriage. This one would be like hanging all of our dirty laundry out on the line so I won’t go into ALL of the nitty gritty details, but I’ll say there was there was some financial strain (among many other things) weighing on our relationship. We were living separately at the time, as we have for most of our marriage in fact, and I had a daydream of just getting in my car and getting out of Dodge – literally (I lived in Cumberland, BC at the time and the nickname for the town is ‘Dodge’ – weird digression, I know).

I had no idea where I’d go, just away from it all… But the love between us and the commitment I made when I said “I do” kept me movin’ on within the relationship instead of without. It has not been an easy ride! I’d always thought those long-time married couples at weddings were smiling blessings and joy on those newlyweds, but I have since realized they were knowing smirks!”

about

Brodie Dawson Courtenay, British Columbia

Named 'Vocalist of the Year' at the 2014 Vancouver Island Music Awards and nominated for 'Best Live Act' two years consecutively, Brodie Dawson definitely delivers!

Brodie calls her style a mix of 'soulful bluesy folk' with a gospel funk, twist of pop and a twang of old-school country.

It’s her voice that jumps out at you…as soon as she sings her first note you're hooked!
